Award-Winning USAF Band of Mid-America Announces Michigan High School Recruiting Tour

DETROIT - Michimich -- The US Air Force Band of Mid-America's Roots in Blue rock/pop band will present a series of concerts for high school students in Michigan between November 12-15. The band's vocalist will also be performing the national anthem at the Detroit Lions game on Nov 17.

Performances include:

• Tues 12 Nov – Renaissance HS, 12:45 PM (6565 W Outer Dr, Detroit, MI 48235)
• Wed 13 Nov – River Rouge HS auditorium, 1:00 PM (1460 Coolidge Hwy, River Rouge, MI 48218)
• Thurs 14 Nov – Melvindale HS, Time TBD (4500 Enterprise Dr, Allen Park, MI 48101)
• Fri 15 Nov – Athens HS, Time TBD (4333 John R Rd, Troy, MI 48085)
• Sun 17 Nov – Detroit Lions Game 12:00 PM

Small ensembles and Air Force representatives are available for interview-related performances to promote these concerts.
Roots in Blue

Roots in Blue is the newest performing group of the USAF Band of Mid-America. This seven piece popular music group features guitar, bass, drums, piano and vocalists, and is sure to impress audiences of all ages. Located at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, this ensemble is committed to honoring our veterans and active duty members, communicating esprit de corps, motivation and inspiration, and rendering honor to our Airmen and country across a 10-state region in the Midwest and Southern United States.

USAF Band of Mid-America

The United States Air Force Band of Mid-America is the principal musical ambassador of Headquarters Air Mobility Command. These talented Air Force musicians have had the distinction of performing for Pope John Paul II, Presidents George W. Bush, William J. Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and Jimmy Carter, the Queen of the Netherlands, and hundreds of other US and foreign leaders. The band performs free civic outreach and recruiting concerts for audiences throughout the Midwest, playing more than 400 engagements each year. In its broader travels, the band has performed in New York City, Philadelphia, Seattle, the Gulf Coast, Germany, the Netherlands, Costa Rica, Barbados, Grenada, Guatemala, Venezuela, Bolivia, and the Azores. Whether recording or performing for live, radio, and television audiences, band members reflect Air Force excellence to millions of people each year.
