The title of the conference was "Paving the Path to a Bloodless Future". Blood Works: An Owner's Guide was featured as part of MyPBM's 1st Annual Scientific Conference held at the Mecure Hotel in Penang on 17th & 18th July 2023 and attended by Malaysia's Minister of Health Dr. Zaliha Mustafa.
PENANG, Malaysia - Michimich -- Blood Works: An Owner's Guide was featured at the Malaysian Society of Patient Blood Management's 1st Annual Scientific Conference held at the Mecure Hotel in Penang on 17 & 18 July 2023. The title of the conference was "Paving the Path to a Bloodless Future".
The goal of the conference was aimed at exploring new frontiers in medicine while reinforcing well established evidence-based practice in the field of patient blood management (PBM). The conference's scientific content has particular focus on placing a high value on the patient and his or her own blood, resulting in improved and superior outcomes for all. The conference featured global medical leaders from around the world sharing insights on the latest advancements of PBM.

Dr Jameela Sathar, president of MyPBM commented: "We were very grateful to welcome medical leaders from around the world as well as to have our honourable health ministers, Dr. Zaliha Mustafa (Minister of Health, Malaysia), Dato' Dr Muhammad Radzi Abu Hassan (Director General of Health, Ministry of Health, Malaysia) Dato' Dr. Asmayani Khalib (Deputy Director General of Health (Medical) Ministry of Health, Malaysia) and Dr Fazilah Shaik Allaudin (Penang State Health Director) with us, and we continue to look forward to an exciting future of advancing PBM in Malaysia."
A gift copy of the landmark book Blood Works: An Owner's Guide was presented to the honorable guests by one of the authors, Sherri Ozawa, a global spokesperson for PBM and keynote speaker at the event.
In her address entitled, Empowering Patients and Safeguarding Patient's Rights, Sherri stated, "Our patients deserve accurate information on how to meaningfully improve their health status and the power to make informed choices about their care. When patients, families and healthcare providers truly partner in improving blood health, the results are better outcomes for all."
