FRANKENMUTH, Mich. - Michimich -- Assisting the Barb Smith Suicide Resource & Response Network is the focus of this year's annual Bavarian Inn (http://www.bavarianinn.com/) Holiday Open House on Friday, November 13 in Frankenmuth. Bavarian Inn Restaurant Castle Shops, Frankenmuth Cheese Haus, Covered Bridge Shop, Frank's Muth and select stores at Frankenmuth River Place Shops will all be participating.
Shoppers can assist by giving a cash donation to the Barb Smith Suicide Resource & Response Network. In return they will receive a 20 percent discount card to be used at participating locations. Also, shoppers can earn the discount card by bringing canned and non-perishable food items to the Open House, which will be donated to a local food pantry.
"The Frankenmuth community and our family business are always honored to support worthy organizations that are trying to help people in need," said Amy Zehnder Grossi, general manager of the Bavarian Inn Restaurant.
Shoppers should arrive early on Nov. 13 and begin their day by making the cash or non-perishable food donation at any of the locations listed below. Shoppers will then receive a 20 percent discount card valid for use while shopping at the following locations during store hours that day:

The Barb Smith Suicide Resource & Response Network is a grassroots organization that has been serving Michigan and beyond since 1989. Its founder and Executive Director, Barb Smith, used her personal experience of losing her 20-year old brother, John, to suicide to build the organization hoping to find purpose for her pain. According to its website, the organization's team of expert trainers deliver evidence-based prevention training to people where they live, work, play, and learn with the hope of destigmatizing suicide, increasing help-seeking behaviors, and caring for those impacted by suicide.
Many other activities will help get visitors in the Christmas spirit during the annual Open House, including:
