GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Michimich -- Mary Free Bed is expanding its rehabilitation services to West Virginia with the announcement of a partnership with Vandalia Health at Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC). Vandalia Health is headquartered in Charleston, WV, with locations in Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Vandalia Health has 1,530 beds in its system with more than 13,000 employees, 17 hospitals and over 190 locations.
The new partnership with Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation is located at Vandalia Health CAMC General Hospital in downtown Charleston, WV, and with its inpatient rehabilitation program. A joint operating agreement between the two organizations begins January 1, 2025, to start serving patients throughout West Virginia.
Currently, Vandalia Health has a 24-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit located at CAMC General Hospital. As part of the partnership, the two organizations will work together to build a new 50-bed rehabilitation hospital on the Vandalia Health CAMC General Hospital Campus.

The Mary Free Bed leadership team will manage the day-to-day operations, performance, processes and procedures, and work closely with Vandalia and CAMC leadership. This new partnership will help grow access to high quality rehabilitation services in West Virginia. The working collaboration will align clinical and operational practices as well as increase clinical skills to better service more complex patients.

Mary Free Bed is a not-for-profit, internationally accredited, and nationally recognized leader in rehabilitation with more than 2,300 staff at over 60 locations in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Virginia.
