'Tiny Tunes' shares the joys of classical music with young children
PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Michimich -- A fun and innovative music series designed for children from pre-school through eight years of age and their families is being launched by the Michigan Philharmonic in September.
The new "Tiny Tunes" program begins on Saturday, Sept. 17 and has been specially created to help children learn about and appreciate classical music in a fun and relaxing way. All of the concerts begin at 10 a.m. in the historic Jack Wilcox Theater at Plymouth's PARC complex (located at 650 Church).
The first concert is called "Meet the Instruments of the Orchestra" and features a selection of music that will help showcase the various parts of a symphony. Led by the Philharmonic's musicians and longtime Music Director and Conductor Nan Washburn, children will have a chance to discover how musical instruments work and the unique sounds created by the Philharmonic's woodwinds, brass, strings and percussion sections.
