NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Michimich -- As a nation turns the page to the new year, a different kind of countdown begins. From December 26 to January 1, millions will observe Kwanzaa, a 7-day celebration of African-American culture and community.

This is not merely a holiday album. It's a manifesto for living in real time America.  A call to rebuild, rejoice, and remember. Each of the album's ten tracks is a deep, rhythmic exploration of one of the Nguzo Saba, the 7 Principles, transforming feelings into movement and struggle into song.

"For too long, the narrative of Black life in America has been one of brokenness and fracture," says Patrina Reddick, the visionary songwriter and producer behind the project. The Heart of Kwanzaa asks us to explore Umoja, Our Unity; Kujichagulia, Self-Determination; and Ujima, Collective Work and Responsibility.

She is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of PIMOSH (People Involved in Motivating Our Students Higher), an arts, education, and technology firm serving students K-12.
