MONTGOMERY, Ind. - Michimich -- RTC Communications, a leading, member-owned, communications and technology provider based in the southwest region of Indiana, is proud to share project updates for the Indiana Next Level Connect (NLC) IV Grant internet expansion. This recent grant opportunity provided necessary funding to expand fiber internet in areas of eastern Daviess County and western Martin County surrounding the West Boggs Lake area.
For years, residents in the West Boggs area have asked RTC Communications to bring fiber to their community, and the right opportunity came through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) and its NLC program. RTC received the green light to move forward at the end of 2024 with the fiber deployment, committing over $1.5 million in RTC capital alongside nearly $1 million in NLC grant funding through OCRA to deliver multi-gig, symmetrical fiber service. By the end of 2025 – less than half of the committed two-year deployment period – nearly 500 residents impacted by the grant were able to be connect with RTC's new fiber services, including our state-of-the-art Intelecyn™ broadband.
"This wasn't a promise — it's a delivered result. We didn't just build fiber, we built certainty. With the State of Indiana and RTC as partners, we finished what we started and brought future-ready, reliable connectivity to a community that's been waiting a long time," stated Kirk Lehman, CEO of RTC Communications.

This project brings the West Boggs community dependable, modern connectivity that supports everyday life and keeps people connected. Families can game online without lag, stream shows and entertainment without buffering, and video chat with loved ones across the world—with the reliability they've been missing.
Just as important, this fiber network creates real options for the future—supporting new housing, business growth, and other development that increasingly depends on strong broadband infrastructure. It gives residents competitive service choices that can help lower costs while supporting long-term property appeal. Built to scale, fiber is a smart investment for what comes next: as demand grows beyond symmetrical 5-gig speeds, upgrades can be made by updating electronics rather than replacing the network itself.
"This is how you strengthen a community: invest where it counts, deliver the project, and keep showing up," commented Lehman.
RTC Communications has served the region for more than 75 years and has invested over $50 million in fiber deployments across Daviess, Martin, Lawrence, and Knox counties. Many RTC employees live and work in these same communities, creating a strong personal connection to the people the network serves.
"Seek. Serve. Smile. isn't just something we say, it's how we operate. We'll keep investing across the communities we serve so families and businesses have the infrastructure they need now and, in the future," Lehman concluded.
