FRANKENMUTH, Mich. - Michimich -- Celebrate autumn during the last two weekends in October with fall family-fun at Frankenmuth River Place Shops during Scarecrow Fest.
Scarecrow Fest takes place from noon to 6 pm Saturday and Sunday, October 18 and 19 and October 25 and 26 at Frankenmuth River Place Shops, 925 S. Main Street in Frankenmuth. Activities include pumpkin painting, pumpkin bowling, arts and crafts, barrel train rides and a pumpkin launcher along with free family entertainment for each weekend. Some activities require a small fee – the event is free to attend. Doughnuts and apple cider will also be available for purchase.
The First weekend of Scarecrow Fest, on October 18 and 19 will include free entertainment from the Rock N Roll K9 team featuring tricks, relay racing, choreographed obedience routines and agility contests. Performances are on Saturday the 18th at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm & Sunday the 19th at 11:00 am and 1:30 pm.

On Sunday, October 19, the Doggie Costume Contest will take place at 4:30 pm on the Fest Platz Stage. Pre-registration is required for the contest from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Hello Cats and Dogs located in River Place Shops. Following the costume contest, doggie pet trick-or-treating will take place throughout the complex from 5:30 pm – 6:00 pm.
The fun will continue the following weekend on October 25 and 26 with more free family entertainment. A Children's Trick or Treating will be held on Sunday, October 26 throughout the complex from 4:00 pm – 4:30 pm starting at the Fest Platz – kids will be able to trick-or-treat from each store. Additional activities occurring on both days will include Halloween-themed music, yard games, arts and crafts, and a free magician performance by Jonathon LaChance at 1:30 pm, 3 pm, and 4:30 pm.

Scarecrow Fest also includes a community-wide scarecrow-decorating contest hosted by the Frankenmuth Chamber of Commerce & Convention & Visitor Bureau. The public can view and vote for their favorite displays located throughout Frankenmuth and River Place Shops with the participating stores.
