STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. - Michimich -- The City of Sterling Heights, in partnership with Priority Waste, successfully hosted a large-scale Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event this past weekend as part of the city's Spring Clean-Up Days initiative.
Despite overcast skies, hundreds of residents came out to safely dispose of hazardous materials, including motor oil, paint, fuels, pesticides, and household chemicals. Events like this play a crucial role in protecting local ecosystems and preventing dangerous substances from entering landfills or stormwater systems.
Priority Waste coordinated the collection process, ensuring efficient traffic flow, secure containment, and compliance with all safety protocols. Trained staff and volunteers sorted through materials to properly identify and handle hazardous substances.
