The Nashville International Chopin Piano Competition Announces the Alexei Sultanov Memorial Discovery Prize

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Michimich -- The Administration of the Nashville International Chopin Piano Competition today announced that the Competition Grand Prix, comprising a $20,000 cash prize and contingent concert engagements and management search assistance, is named the Alexei Sultanov Memorial Discovery Prize. The dedication to Sultanov was made with the blessing of Sultanov's widow, Dace, who was with Alexei through the frenzied experiences of tours after his competition wins, his meteoric rise to fame, and steadfast determination to continue performing - with one hand - after he fell ill with the malady that would take his life.
