DETROIT, March 18, 2025 ~ Detroit, MI - Dayna Hottle, the co-owner and general manager of C & C Heating & Air Conditioning, is a female leader in the home service industry. With over seven decades of experience, her company is a leading heating and cooling company in the Detroit area. As National Women's History Month approaches, Hottle encourages women to consider a career in the skilled trades.
Hottle believes that women can find lucrative and fulfilling work in the skilled trades industry. She wants to break the stereotype that these jobs are only for men. "This month, we celebrate the strides women have taken throughout history to better our lives and the lives of our daughters and granddaughters," Hottle said. "The skilled trades have traditionally been a male-dominated industry, but there's no reason women can't work as plumbers, electricians and HVAC techs. These careers don't cost a fortune to learn, and many are good-paying jobs with great benefits."
One of the main reasons Hottle encourages women to consider a career in the skilled trades is due to a shortage of qualified workers. As Baby Boomers retire, there is a lack of skilled labor to replace them. This presents an opportunity for women to enter into these fields and fill the gap.

Recent studies show that more women are entering into the skilled trades industry than ever before. In 2021 alone, over 314,000 women were working in this field. At C & C Heating & Air Conditioning, several women hold positions in customer service and accounting departments. The company also has two female HVAC technicians.
Hottle has been involved in the industry since she was young. Her family started C & C Heating & Air Conditioning in 1948, and her mother and grandmother played crucial roles in ensuring its success. Hottle herself worked for the company during school breaks before joining full-time as operations manager after graduating from college in 2005.
In addition to her role at C & C, Hottle is also a member of Women of Nexstar and Women in HVACR. These organizations provide women with the necessary training and networking opportunities to succeed in the skilled trades industry.
"As a woman in the skilled trades industry, I'd like to see more women in the field," Hottle said. "It's particularly important to me to encourage young women to at least look into the heating, cooling, plumbing and electrical fields."
