DETROIT - Michimich -- BasBlue is celebrating its fifth anniversary and gearing up for its annual Bold Women Summit on March 31, 2026, a signature event that combines the scale of major regional conferences with the accessibility and intimacy that define the BasBlue experience.
Since opening in October 2021 in Detroit's cultural corridor, BasBlue has focused on one guiding question: Could a physical space bring together professional development, entrepreneurship, wellness, and community in a way that truly moves the needle for women? Today, the answer is clear, reflected in a thriving, multi-generational membership and a growing influence across Detroit's professional ecosystem.
"We created BasBlue to be a place where women could gather, share their stories, and inspire one another to take bold action in community," said Ellen Gilchrist, CEO. "The Power of Us reflects what we see every day; when women step into their leadership and support one another, they don't just advance individually — they help shape what comes next for all of us."

BasBlue serves more than 600 members annually, roughly half from Detroit and more than half identifying as people of color. The Trailblazer Scholarship program provides free one-year memberships to over 125 women each year, ensuring that entrepreneurship and professional growth remain accessible to all. Accessibility is central to the mission, with membership designed to remain affordable without compromising the quality of programming, space, or experience.
The 2026 Bold Women Summit embodies this philosophy at scale, offering high-impact conversations, networking opportunities, and intergenerational engagement. Keynote speakers include celebrated fashion designer Tracy Reese and Robin Terry, whose leadership journeys span creativity, cultural legacy, entrepreneurship, and civic impact. The Summit brings together early- and mid-career professionals, entrepreneurs moving from idea to readiness, creatives, civic leaders, and emerging Gen Z leaders for a day of inspiration and actionable learning.

BasBlue provides a "third space" — not home, not work, but a trusted professional and creative hub — blending professional development, entrepreneurship support, financial wellness, physical wellness, and civic engagement under one roof. Its holistic approach ensures women are resourced to advance confidence, economic stability, and long-term mobility.
As BasBlue marks five years in Detroit, the Bold Women Summit stands as both a celebration and a catalyst, demonstrating that access and excellence can coexist and that intimate, intentional spaces can create large-scale impact.
