"As the President of Youth Are Bigger Than Life and a former all-star basketball player at Eastern Michigan University, I firmly believe that every young person possesses the potential to achieve greatness," said Marvin Skipper, founder and president. "Through our organization's mission and events like the Youth Are Bigger Than Life Comedy Show, we're not just raising funds; we're igniting hope, resilience, and a belief in oneself. Skipper, a former all-star basketball player from Eastern Michigan University, is the driving force behind Youth Are Bigger Than Life. Despite facing adversity on and off the court, Skipper's journey is one of resilience and determination. His life took a significant turn when he encountered heart issues, leading to the installation of a cardiac pacemaker. However, rather than allowing this setback to define him, Skipper used it as inspiration to create positive change within his community.
Reflecting on his journey, Skipper shares, "Life threw me a curveball, but I refused to let it defeat me. Instead, I channeled my energy into creating opportunities for others, especially our youth, because they are indeed bigger than life."
Growing up in a single-parent household on Detroit's east side, Skipper faced numerous challenges, from witnessing traumatic events to experiencing economic hardships. However, his resilience and determination propelled him forward, ultimately leading to the creation of Youth Are Bigger Than Life.
