A used retrofitted van would make a life-changing difference for someone in need
HIGHLAND, Mich. - Michimich -- Driving Successful Lives (DSL), a Michigan-based national nonprofit, is urgently seeking the donation of a used, wheelchair-accessible van to assist a man with disabilities in regaining his independence. The organization is prepared to cover some of the necessary repairs to ensure the vehicle is safe and fully functional for its new owner.
"This gentleman's current van has over 200,000 miles and is no longer safe or reliable for his daily needs," said Mark Maupin, Director of Driving Successful Lives. "With the help of a caring donor, we can provide him with a dependable vehicle that supports his mobility and restores his dignity."
This appeal is part of DSL's ongoing mission to transform lives through vehicle donations and community support. Previously, DSL provided essential repairs to a disabled senior's hand-control van, restoring his independence.
Beyond vehicle donations, DSL has made significant impacts through various initiatives. In 2024, the organization donated 500 turkeys to families during Thanksgiving, ensuring no one went hungry during the holiday season. Additionally, DSL's Real Estate Donation Program has turned vacant and neglected properties into opportunities for community growth—providing shelter to veterans, homeless families, and individuals overcoming addiction.

About Driving Successful Lives
Driving Successful Lives' mission is to help raise funds and improve the lives of veterans, homeless families, children, those with addictions while helping donors generate a tax deduction, often with property or vehicles they might no longer want.
Every time a person donates real estate or a car to the charity of their choice it may also create a tax benefit for them. Car donations, real estate donations or money donated to non-profit institutions throughout the tax year may be tax deductible which means that they could make a positive difference for people while reducing the amount of income taxes they pay. Contributing to charities can be a very convenient way to reduce taxes and help others.
