~ Sterling Heights, MI- The city's annual Sterlingfest Art and Music Fair celebration is set to take place from July 24-26 in Dodge Park and the City Center. In preparation for the event, Utica Road and northbound Dodge Park will be closed to traffic. Motorists are advised to use 17 Mile Road as an alternative east-west route.
According to the Sterling Heights Police Department (SHPD) and Department of Public Works (DPW), these road closures are necessary for the safe set up and tear down of the festival. Utica Road will be closed at 18 Mile Road on its northern end and at Valiant Drive on its southern end. The closure will begin on Wednesday, July 23 at approximately 6 p.m. and will reopen at noon on Sunday, July 27.
Residents living along Utica Road and Dale Court will be provided with residential passes to access their homes during the closure. Additionally, Dodge Park will also be closed from Utica Road to Lancer Drive during this time.
To mitigate traffic congestion during the festival, SHPD and DPW have coordinated efforts to close Dodge Park northbound at 17 Mile between 9 and 11 p.m. each night from July 24-26. Only Uber and Lyft drivers will be allowed to proceed northbound to Stevenson High School during this period. Schoenherr and Van Dyke have been suggested as alternate routes for northbound traffic.

On Saturday, July 26, there will also be a temporary closure of the westbound lane on Utica Road from 18 Mile Road to the Sterling Heights Nature Center for the annual SterlingFAST 5k event. This closure will last from 9 a.m. until approximately 9:30 a.m.
In addition to road closures, there will also be no parking on one side of several streets in adjacent neighborhoods starting on July 24 until the end of Sterlingfest. This is to ensure that emergency vehicles can access the neighborhoods in case of an emergency and to maintain a smoother traffic flow. Violators will be towed and/or fined, and tickets may also be issued for vehicles blocking sidewalks. A detailed list of streets can be found on sterlingfest.info under "parking information."
To make transportation easier for festival-goers, parking and shuttle services will be available from 9:45 a.m. to midnight for a suggested donation of $1 per person, per ride at four locations: Bethesda Christian Church, Davis Junior High School, St. Ephrem Catholic Church, and Utica Community Schools Education Center. Ride share services like Uber and Lyft can drop off and pick up passengers at Stevenson High School's parking lot.
