TSOP MI presents five awards to community-driven individuals and organizations
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Michimich -- On Friday, March 10, 2023, Golden Limousine President and Founder, Sean Duval, was presented the Humanitarian Award by TSOP Michigan (TSOPMI). The award was given in recognition of his years of service to the greater Ann Arbor community, his devotion to the betterment of all, and his strong belief in paying it forward. He was recognized as a champion inside and outside of the philanthropic realm.
"I am so honored to have received an award along with so many other community-driven and generous people and organizations – it was a very special evening," Sean humbly stated. The stage was shared with Lemar Thomas (Young Black Philanthropist Award), Faye Askew King (Community Spirit Award), William Patterson (Legacy Award), and the African American Cultural & Historical Museum of Washtenaw County (Giving Black Award).

Sean Duval has been a tremendous supporter of many organizations in the region. He is currently on or has served on the boards of the Ann Arbor Community Foundation, Destination Ann Arbor, Michigan Works Southeast Workforce, Washtenaw Community College Foundation, Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti Chamber, and many others.
TSOPMI presented five awards to local black philanthropists and organizations in the greater Washtenaw County area. The awards ceremony took place as part of the opening reception for a pop-up art gallery featuring works from an exhibition entitled Giving Back: The Soul of Philanthropy Reframed and Exhibited.
The exhibition was organized by TSOPMI and highlights Black philanthropy. "We're thrilled to bring this nationally acclaimed exhibit to Michigan. We (Black Americans) have a long, rich history of giving. Our giving extends well beyond monetary contributions," said TSOPMI co-chair Collin Mays.
The pop-up gallery is now open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM until March 25, at the Washtenaw Community College Morris Lawrence Building, and is a sample of a larger installation that will be on display in Detroit this summer. The exhibition presents pieces that honor, celebrate, and sustain the rich traditions of giving within African American communities.

In conjunction with the pop-up gallery, a community conversation about Black philanthropy will take place on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 pm at Washtenaw Community College's Morris Lawrence Building. Sean Duval will be a panelist for the event, along with Faye Askew-King and Lemar Thomas. The moderator for the conversation is Nika Washington, TSOPMI co-chair. The event is free.
