Receives Endorsement From United States Senator (MI) Gary Peters
DETROIT - Michimich -- State Senate candidate Korey Hall today called for new state legislation to encourage the development of Behavioral Health Urgent Care Centers across Michigan, providing individuals and families with immediate access to mental health services before situations escalate into crises requiring hospitalization, incarceration, or emergency intervention.
Hall said Michigan must take a more proactive approach to addressing mental health challenges by creating accessible facilities where residents can receive urgent behavioral health services, crisis intervention, counseling, referrals, and support in a setting designed specifically for mental health needs.
"For too long, families facing mental health challenges have had nowhere to turn except an emergency room, a police response, or simply waiting until a situation becomes a crisis," Hall said. "We need a system that treats mental health with the same urgency and accessibility as physical health. Behavioral Health Urgent Care Centers can help fill that gap and provide support before problems become tragedies."

Hall's proposal comes as communities throughout Michigan continue to face growing challenges related to mental health, substance use disorders, and behavioral health crises affecting individuals of all ages.
In conjunction with the policy announcement, U.S. Senator Gary Peters announced his endorsement of Hall's campaign for Michigan State Senate District 3.
"Korey Hall has dedicated his career to bringing people together and finding practical solutions to difficult challenges," said Senator Peters. "I've worked alongside Korey and have seen firsthand his commitment to public service and his ability to build partnerships that deliver results for Michigan families. He understands the challenges facing our communities and has the experience and leadership necessary to represent the people of the 3rd District effectively in Lansing. I am proud to endorse Korey Hall for State Senate."
Hall previously served as Political Director for Senator Peters before joining Governor Gretchen Whitmer's administration, where he served in senior community engagement and public affairs roles.

Hall said addressing mental health must become a bipartisan priority in Lansing.
"This issue impacts every community, every income level, and every family," Hall said. "As State Senator, I will work with healthcare providers, local governments, law enforcement, behavioral health professionals, and community organizations to expand access to mental health care and ensure people receive help when they need it most."
The proposal is expected to become a key component of Hall's public safety and public health agenda for the 3rd District, which includes Detroit, Hamtramck, Highland Park, Hazel Park, Madison Heights, and surrounding communities.
