GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., Oct. 24, 2024 ~ Meijer, a popular Midwest retail chain, has announced the success of its fourth Meijer Team Gives program. This program has resulted in surprise donations to nearly 500 nonprofits within the communities it serves.
According to Rick Keyes, President and CEO of Meijer, the Meijer Team Gives program holds a special place in the company's heart as it allows team members across the Midwest to support local nonprofits that are making a meaningful impact in their communities. By empowering employees to choose the organizations that mean the most to them, Meijer is not only supporting hundreds of local organizations but also honoring the values and passions of its team members. Keyes expressed his admiration for how dedicated his team is to making a difference and stated that this program reflects Meijer's purpose to enrich lives in the communities it serves.
During each Meijer Team Gives program, every store, distribution facility, and supply chain location is given $10,000 to donate to a nonprofit in their community. Team members at each location work together to identify local nonprofits that are meaningful to them and their community before ultimately selecting one organization to surprise with a donation.

In this most recent program, nearly 30 percent of all chosen organizations received a donation from Meijer for the first time. One such organization was Make Food Not Waste in Detroit, which was chosen by the Meijer Rivertown Market location. This nonprofit supports Southeast Michigan by implementing food waste prevention, rescue, and recycling solutions. Elizabeth Clement, Store Director at Meijer Rivertown Market, shared that they have had a long-standing relationship with Make Food Not Waste through their Simply Give hunger relief program and were proud to support their impactful work.
On the west side of Cleveland, the Avon Meijer chose French Creek Foundation as their recipient. This organization focuses on developing and revitalizing Avon's French Creek District through various projects that support small businesses and residents. Michael Jodrey, Store Director at Meijer Avon, expressed his pride in partnering with French Creek year-round and shared that their $10,000 donation will support the Christmas Tree Lighting Festival, sponsor a family in need for the holidays, and fund back-to-school shopping events next fall.

In Indianapolis, a local Meijer store chose to donate to the SON Foundation, which provides a space for cancer patients and their families to stay while receiving treatment. Rebecca Miller, Store Director at the Greenwood Meijer location, shared that any foundation related to cancer is close to the hearts of their team members. She also mentioned that they have had several team members affected by cancer this year and wanted to choose an organization that would make a significant impact on those in need during one of the toughest times of their lives.
