LANSING, Mich., June 7, 2024 ~ Neogen Corporation Launches CelluSmart Technology for Cellulosic Ethanol Measurement
Neogen Corporation, a leading provider of food safety solutions, has announced the launch of its new CelluSmart technology from Megazyme® by Neogen. This innovative technology is designed for the measurement of cellulosic ethanol in biofuel production.
The development of CelluSmart marks a significant milestone in the industry, as Neogen has improved upon the previous National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) procedure by introducing a yeast-degrading cocktail (YDC). With these enhancements, CelluSmart enables the ethanol industry to fully realize its efforts to produce low-carbon fuels and generate D3 RINs from in-situ production.
Cellulosic ethanol is a key component in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing towards climate goals. It represents a 60% reduction in emissions compared to standard petroleum-based fuel. The introduction of CelluSmart has the potential to further reduce carbon intensity scores for ethanol producers, which could open up access to new markets such as sustainable aviation fuel.
