They reach out to a pro who now has to deal with cleaning up a mess with only the limited tools in the website building system, not to mention the messy and convoluted code that those sites typically generate.

Code? Code? Who cares about code? As it turns out, Google does, and they will clobber you in the rankings if your code is sloppy or if your site is slow to load.

At the end of the day, if you're going to end up calling in the pros anyway, then it's probably a good idea to stay away from Wix and similar systems. After all, do you really want someone with limited skills and experience building your site?
