DETROIT, Feb. 21, 2025 ~ As February, the month of love, approaches, R&B artist J. Poww is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated album "I Did It My Way" on Powwer Moves Records. This sizzling collection of 10 soulful covers is set to reignite our most cherished musical memories and pay tribute to some of the greatest R&B hits of all time.
With "I Did It My Way," Poww is infusing his seductive seasoning into an incredible tapestry of legendary songs. The Detroit sensation is no stranger to the music industry, having previously been the lead singer and songwriter for his group U.N.V. on Madonna's Maverick label. Their hits "Something's Goin On" and "Straight from My Heart" topped the Billboard charts in the '90s.
For this project, Poww enlisted Grammy Award-winning producer Christopher Bivins aka Buddafly Wolf and Grammy Award-winning engineer Jezreel Santos to bring a modern twist to these classic tracks. The team also worked with director Derek Dollah Jones of Huxl Republic Films to create a visually stunning music video for one of the covers, Babyface's "Whip Appeal."

"I Did It My Way" not only pays homage to R&B legends like Babyface, Freddie Jackson, Christopher Cross, and Bobby Caldwell but also aims to introduce a new generation of listeners to these timeless songs. Poww shared that he wanted to add a modern vibe while still honoring the flavor of the '90s that many people fondly remember.
The album has received approval from all original artists whose songs were covered, including Babyface himself who recently had a red-carpet mishap at the Grammys. Poww hopes that this project will remind younger generations about the musical legacies that came before them.
In addition to covers from other artists, "I Did It My Way" also includes some original tracks from U.N.V., such as "Somethings Goin On Again" and "Sunshine." The album offers a luxurious selection of songs and videos, making every month a month of love.
J. Poww is also gearing up for a national and international tour, with upcoming dates in Michigan, Paris, France, and London. He will also be performing alongside H-Town at the Dorchester Hall in London in March.
Fans can join J. Poww's YouTube channel and follow him on Instagram for updates on his music and tour dates. And be on the lookout for his next release, the self-written album "SOULFUL MELODIES + BARS," which promises to be another showcase of sound and seduction.
