Organization honored at the annual awards session on April 5
DETROIT - Michimich -- One of the Detroit area's prominent nonprofit educational organizations, the St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center (http://www.svsfcenter.org/) (SVSF Center), has been recognized by the Coalition on Adult Basic Education (COABE) in their 2023 Workplace of the Year awards.
SVSF was recognized in the category of Advancing Workforce Development. The award, along with a $2,000 check, was presented to Stephen Goodrum, SVSF Director of Adult Education/Workforce Development at the 2023 COABE National Conference in Atlanta, GA at a special awards ceremony that was held April 5, 2023.
SVSF is one of eight winners of a COABE national award, which include award, incentive grant, and scholarship winners.
"We are so pleased to receive this award by COABE," said Diane Renaud, Executive Director/CEO of SVSF. "This is quite an honor to be recognized on a national level for the programs and efforts that we are making to impact this important area of support. We're so passionate about helping Detroit residents find employment success in today's workforce, working in true partnership with the City of Detroit and the State of Michigan and blessed to work with such amazing students and volunteers."

About St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center
St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center began in 1844 as St. Vincent's Academy in Detroit, a kindergarten for orphaned children. With over 175 years of service, the organization has grown and evolved, which included a move to Farmington Hills before coming back to its roots in Detroit. Although it closed its residential doors in 2006, it still continues to fulfill its mission of serving at-risk families by providing free, personalized educational support for children and adults. These programs are designed to help build self-sufficiency skills for academic and employment success, personal achievement and dignity. Visit http://www.svsfcenter.org/ to learn more.
