~ Sterling Heights, MI - As the city prepares for its annual Sterlingfest Art and Music Fair celebration, road closures are set to take place in order to ensure a safe and successful event. Utica Road and northbound Dodge Park will be closed, with 17 Mile Road being recommended as an alternative east-west route for motorists.
According to the Sterling Heights Police Department and Department of Public Works, Utica Road will be closed at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23 and is expected to reopen at noon on Sunday, July 28. The closure will span from 18 Mile Road at the northern end to Valiant Drive at the southern end. Residents living along Utica Road and on Dale Court will be provided with residential passes to allow them access during the closure.
In addition, Dodge Park will also be closed from Utica Road to Lancer Dr starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24 until noon on Sunday, July 28. This closure is necessary for festival set up and tear down.
To alleviate traffic congestion during the festival, SHPD and DPW will also be closing Dodge Park northbound at 17 Mile between 9 and 11 p.m. each night from July 25-27. During this time, only Uber and Lyft drivers will be allowed to proceed northbound to Stevenson High School for pick up. Schoenherr and Van Dyke have been suggested as alternate routes for northbound traffic.

On Saturday, July 27 from 9 a.m. until approximately 9:30 a.m., the westbound lane on Utica Road from 18 Mile Road to the Sterling Heights Nature Center will also be temporarily closed for the annual SterlingFAST 5k race.
This year, there will also be no parking allowed on one side of several streets in adjacent neighborhoods throughout the duration of Sterlingfest. This measure has been put in place to ensure that emergency vehicles can access the neighborhoods in case of an emergency and to maintain a smoother traffic flow. Violators will face towing and/or fines, and tickets may also be issued for vehicles blocking sidewalks. A detailed list of affected streets can be found on sterlingfest.info under "parking information."
For those attending Sterlingfest, parking and shuttle services will be available for a suggested donation of $1 per person, per ride at four locations: Bethesda Christian Church, Heritage Junior High, St. Ephrem Catholic Church, and Walsh Elementary. Ride share services like Uber and Lyft can drop off and pick up passengers at Stevenson High School.
Organizers are encouraging personal drivers to utilize the shuttle service for ease and convenience when picking up someone from the festival.
