~ The City of Sterling Heights is preparing for its annual Sterlingfest Art and Music Fair celebration, which will take place from July 27-29 in Dodge Park and the City Center. To ensure a safe festival set up and tear down, Utica Road from 18 Mile all the way to Valiant Drive south of the Senior and Community centers and northbound Dodge Park between Utica and the City Hall/Community Center entrance will be closed.
The Sterling Heights Police Department (SHPD) and Department of Public Works (DPW) will be coordinating efforts to close Utica Road at approximately 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 25, with plans to reopen the road at approximately noon on Sunday, July 30. Residential passes will be distributed to residents living along Utica Road and on Dale Court. Additionally, SHPD and DPW will be working to mitigate traffic congestion each night by closing Dodge Park northbound at 17 Mile between 9 and 11 p.m., allowing only Uber and Lyft drivers to proceed northbound to Stevenson High School to pick up their riders. Schoenherr and Van Dyke are suggested alternate routes for northbound traffic during this period.
