TRENTON, Mich. - Michimich -- The Trenton High School Career Center is an extension of the Counseling Department. Sarah Riley provides guidance and resources to students as they explore their post-secondary plans while at Trenton High School. All high school students can receive guidance and resources regardless of their chosen path. Post-secondary planning involves collaboration among parents, the counseling department, and students. This partnership is crucial for ensuring successful academic and career outcomes.
"With the TEF Grant I was able to purchase Trenton High School branded items so I can participate in Trenton career exploration nights and help students make long term career plans," explained Sarah Riley, Career Specialist for Trenton High School. "I will also be able to attend events where I will be made aware of other opportunities that students may not had access to in the past."
With support from College Bound Michigan and the Trenton Educational Foundation, students will have a chance to win prizes for participating in college-bound activities. Students who participate and complete tasks along the way will have a chance to win prizes.

TEF President Mike McCullough said, "Since Trenton High School has dedicated Ms. Riley to coordinate the scholarship efforts, we have seen more awareness and participation from students. The bottom line is building communication and providing tools students can choose for their career path."
About the Trenton Educational Foundation:
Established in 2008 by a partnership of community leaders from various organizations, the TEF is now known as a source of "grants" that teachers can seek to help fund special projects and activities not within the budget and have added student scholarships. All levels of Trenton public education are helped by the TEF. The Foundation funds six integral areas of education — cultural enrichment, scholastic enrichment, arts and education, technology and learning, continuing education and professional development. The Foundation conducts one grant cycle each school year for all grant requests in order that all grants will be ready for implementation at the beginning of the next school year. The Trenton Educational Foundation (TEF) is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation created for the purpose of enhancing the educational opportunities for teachers and students within the Trenton Public Schools system.
