SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. - Michimich -- In celebration of National Caregivers Month in November, AARP Florida today announced the launch of its inaugural Florida Family & Faith International Film Festival powered by AARP Florida. This virtual cinematic celebration will take place on Nov. 26-29, 2020. Hosted by film and TV actors Kevin Sorbo and Gina Neely, this first-ever event has the theme of "giving thanks to caregivers" and will feature an international film competition, Hollywood studio movies, and Talk Backs with the filmmakers.
"Against the backdrop of a global pandemic, AARP Florida wanted to present an empowering event this Thanksgiving season that would truly celebrate families and caregivers," states Dionne Polite, Director of State Operations for AARP Florida. "Our Florida Family & Faith International Film Festival achieves these goals in such a beautiful and unique way."
National Caregivers Month is a time to recognize the 2.9 million Floridians who are caring for loved ones, according to AARP Florida. In 2020, many caregivers have been overwhelmed given the pandemic and AARP Florida works every day to be a resource for them and their families. The organization is also presenting the Florida Family & Faith International Film Festival powered by AARP Florida as a way to say, "thank you" to caregivers. The virtual film festival will be free to AARP members and feature 20 movies from such countries as Puerto Rico, South Africa, Australia, Turkey, Peru, and the United Kingdom.
