PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Michimich -- The Michigan Philharmonic, one of Michigan's finest regional orchestras, will launch its 80th season on Saturday, Sept. 27 in Canton with a special opening night performance featuring an internationally acclaimed cellist.

The Phil's 80th season "Birthday Bash" begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Salem High School auditorium on Joy Road in Canton and features music from Ludwig van Beethoven, Anna Clyne, Peter Tchaikovsky, Zhou Tian and Camille Saint-Saens.

The featured artist is Deborah Pae, a renowned cellist praised by critics for her "extraordinary musicianship" and "magical" playing.
