Register today for two webinars about the From Students to Stewards Initiative designed to enhance school performance, improve water literacy, and prepare Michigan's students for high quality STEM careers.
The initiative, sponsored by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), Michigan Department of Education (MDE), and the MiSTEM Network at Grand Valley State University, includes information and real-world opportunities for students and educators to help integrate water literacy into school curricula and continuous improvement plans.
The MiSTEM Network has released a request for proposals to fund at least five project teams for a total of $50,000 as part of the From Students to Stewards Initiative. The winning applicants will test the effectiveness of a program toolkit, provide feedback on their experiences, and make recommendations to improve its usefulness.

Who should attend the webinars: Anyone interested in the From Students to Stewards Initiative and potential applicants, who must be part of a project team to qualify for funding. Teams must include one or more schools, local or intermediate school districts, or public school academies; at least one MiSTEM Network Region; and one or more community partners.

- Feb. 3, 3-4 p.m.: Hosted by the MiSTEM Network in partnership with EGLE, MDE, and the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO). Provides information about the initiative. The project team will explain the purpose of the initiative, provide an overview of the resources in the toolkit, and answer questions.
- Feb. 20, 3-4 p.m.: Hosted by the MiSTEM Network in partnership with EGLE, MDE, LEO, and GVSU. Explains the RFP: how to apply, who should apply, and what information should be included in a successful application. Project team will answer questions.
