"Legislators who support lowering the bulk data fee for credit agencies are clearly and sadly buckling for special interest groups at the expense of taxpayers.
The bulk fee was set with bipartisan agreement through the budget process, yet now these apparently beholden legislators want to cut it in half and force the state to operate at a loss, ultimately harming every taxpayer in Michigan.
What's worse is that because individual Michiganders don't buy bulk population data and therefore don't benefit from the fee reduction, it is obvious the legislators are doing this in support of the large national credit and financial companies that buy and immediately resell bulk population data at a profit."
