"Bike and Roll to School Day emphasizes the sense of joy and adventure students experience by being active on their school commute," said MFF President & CEO Amy Ghannam.
SRTS programs and events are designed to make it safe, convenient, and fun for K-12 students to walk, bike, and roll to and from school. Programs facilitate the planning, development, and implementation of projects and activities that will improve safety and reduce traffic, fuel consumption, and air pollution in the vicinity of schools. Events raise awareness about important issues like increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, reducing traffic congestion, and concern for the environment.
Schools and communities are invited to sign up for Walk and Roll to School Day (https://saferoutesmichigan.org/walk-to-school-day/) (October 8) to continue the celebration of active transportation and community connection.
