~ Sterling Heights Community Center is hosting a pickleball tournament on Saturday, December 28, inviting players of all levels to participate in a day of fun and friendly competition. The event, known as "Dink it or Sink it," will be divided into two divisions - beginner and advanced - with a maximum of 20 players (10 teams) in each division.
Registration for the tournament is now open and can be completed online. Players have the option to register individually or with a partner. For those who do not have a partner, the organizers will match them up with one. However, all participants must have a good understanding of the rules of pickleball, including how to serve, keep score, and resolve conflicts amicably.
The cost to participate in the tournament is $35 per player. The beginner division, which is open to players at the 2.5-3.0 level or equivalent, will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants at this level should have basic knowledge of serving and scoring but may not be as proficient in third shot strategies, volleys, and court positioning.

The advanced division will begin at 2 p.m. and run until 5 p.m., welcoming players at the 3.5-4.0 level or equivalent. These players are expected to have a strong understanding of third shot strategies, volleys, and court positioning and utilize them frequently during gameplay.
According to organizers, if you are around the bottom 50% of recreational play at the Community Center, you are well-suited for the beginner division. On the other hand, if you find yourself among the top 50% of recreational players at the center, then the advanced division is where you belong.
Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to showcase your pickleball skills and compete against other members of your community! Register now for "Dink it or Sink it" at the Sterling Heights Community Center.
