FRANKENMUTH, Mich. - Michimich -- A celebration of sparkling wines and spectacular food is at the heart of Bavarian Inn Lodge (https://www.bavarianinn.com/)'s Sparkling Wine Dinner in August.
Planned for Friday, Aug. 23 beginning at 6 p.m., the evening features a five-course dinner accompanied by a variety of sparkling wines from Italy, Spain, France, California and Michigan.
The dinner's first course will be citrus cured sea scallop, strawberry tangerine salsa, baby greens, green apple with a mushroom and brie crostini. This will be paired with a glass of Avissi DOC prosecco from Veneto, Italy. That will be followed by a spiced and smoked apple blue cheese stuffed roasted turkey roulade in cava mustard cream, along with Cune Brut Cava from San Sadurni d'Anoia, Spain.
Guests will next enjoy a citrus glazed baked salmon, citrus gastrique, apricot peach foam, charred grapefruit supreme and peach cherry salsa. This will be served with Chandon Blanc De Pinot Noir from Napa Valley, California.

A fourth course features caramelized onion braised duck, wine poached pearl onion, roasted pepper corn pudding, soft shell crab, beurre Nantais and vegetable gratin accompanied by J Cuvee 20 from Sonoma, California and Veuve Clicquot from Reims, France.
For the finale, guests will enjoy grilled peach honey tarte, honey goat cheese, cherry curd almond mousse and candied macadamias along with Detroit Sparkling by L. Mawby from Leelanau, Michigan.
Random prize drawings will be offered during each course and each guest will receive a Bavarian Inn champagne stopper.
The cost is $120 per person and includes the meal, listed wines, and tax and gratuity. Reservations and pre-payment are required. To reserve call (888) 775-6343.
An overnight package special is also available and includes a one night stay for Friday, Aug. 23 in a deluxe room at the Lodge, a box of assorted Bavarian Inn truffles and two tickets to the wine dinner. The cost is $399 plus tax and resort fee.
