GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., March 21, 2023 ~ Meijer, a retail company based in Adrian, Mich., announced today the winners of its 2022 Legacy Awards and recipients of its first-ever Meijer Impact Award. The Legacy Awards recognize seven individuals across the company for their impact on their teams, customers and communities. The Meijer Impact Award celebrates an exceptional team's accomplishments and extraordinary acts of service.
Executive Chairman Hank Meijer said, "While a lot about retail has changed since we opened our doors in 1934, our focus on our customers, team members and community has always endured. The Legacy Awards are the company's highest honor, recognizing those individuals who are driving business results while living out the values our company was built on. These winners serve as role models for other team members now and in the future."
Ben Negron, Store Director at the Meijer store in Adrian, Mich., received the 2022 Fred Meijer Award - the highest-level recognition a Meijer team member can receive. This award is given annually to one individual who embodies the values and mission set forth by Fred Meijer, including leadership based in humility, generosity, and a passion for serving others. Negron is described as a person with a heart for his family, store and community. He is an active participant in his community; he founded and served as Executive Director of Hispanics of Lenawee Alliance (HOLA) and serves on the Siena Heights University Board of Trustees and Lenawee Community Foundation Board of Directors. In 2021 he received the Lenawee Leadership Award for exemplifying quality leadership that will determine Lenawee County's future. Within Meijer he serves as a member of Mosaic's communication committee which supports advocacy and awareness for people of color, people with diverse backgrounds and people from different cultures and communities.

Meijer also celebrated six winners of the 2022 President's Award which acknowledges their significant business contributions in the last year: Carol Bork (Cashier at Washington Twp.), Amy Chan (Office Manager in Global Sourcing Office), Ben Hamlin (Director of Own Brand Food), Dave Hoover (Director of Outbound Logistics), Kyle Musser (Director of Distribution) & Erik Petrovskis (Director Environmental Compliance & Sustainability). President & CEO Rick Keyes said "This year's President's Award winners are inspiring because they demonstrate everyone has ability to make meaningful impact on company success…What these individuals have in common is commitment to living our company's values every day…and passion for making positive impact on our business."
The Tipp City Distribution Center was recognized with this year's first-ever Meijer Impact Award which recognizes exceptional team accomplishments & extraordinary acts of service. Keyes recognized them for their quick response to an EF-2 tornado that struck facility; they only had 10 minutes to react but managed to minimize any disruptions & keep product flowing to stores while also contacting local officials to offer support & resources toward local recovery efforts. Keyes said "Their quick activation…helped ensure everyone was safe from harm that day…The Tipp City team's focus on safety…commitment to customers & concern for community all underscore why they are so deserving."
