The site will stay open to the public, except for three-four days when paving takes place
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources announced today that the Bolles Harbor Boating Access Site, in Monroe County, will be under construction Monday, Sept. 27, through Friday, Oct. 15. The site, off Waters Edge Road, is a popular Lake Erie access point.
The site will remain open throughout the entire project, except for the days when paving takes place. Currently, the planned paving dates are Oct. 5-8, but those dates are contingent on weather and any unforeseeable circumstances that could delay the project.
The project is the third phase in long-term improvement plans for the Bolles Harbor site. Previous work in 2012 and 2015 included replacement of the entrance road, grade adjustments and paving, installation of vault toilets, development of a tie-down lane, installation of a raingarden, ramp lighting and landscaping with native plant species.

All work is funded through the Michigan State Waterways Fund, a restricted fund derived from the collection of boat registration fees, a portion of the Michigan marine fuel tax and user fees. Waterways funding is dedicated to the acquisition, construction, operation and maintenance of recreational boating facilities.
Bolles Harbor is one of several public access sites on Lake Erie. The next closest DNR boat launch is in William C. Sterling State Park. To search for additional boating access sites, harbors and marinas in the Monroe County area and statewide, visit Michigan's Recreational Boating Information System site.
