WASHINGTON, June 20, 2025 ~ Teamsters at Airgas, a subsidiary of French multinational Air Liquide, are gearing up for potential strike action as the company continues to stall at the bargaining table and violate federal labor laws. Workers represented by Teamsters Local 283 in Ferndale, Mich., and Teamsters Local 507 in Cleveland have voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike if Airgas fails to present a fair contract.
According to Juan Campos, Director of the Teamsters Tankhaul Division and Teamsters International Vice President At-Large, "Airgas management is playing hardball and actively undermining our members' rights. The company is dragging out negotiations on purpose, thinking they can wear our members down. But Teamsters are more fired up than ever and ready for this fight."
Despite record profits and revenue of nearly $30 billion last year, Airgas has refused to offer contracts that meet industry standards and has been accused of breaking the law. This has led to frustration among workers who feel they are being undervalued by the company.

Dan Chavez, Secretary-Treasurer of Local 507 stated, "Our members are done being strung along by this company. A strike isn't our first choice, but if Airgas won't bargain in good faith or stop violating our rights, we're prepared to take action. This is a fight Airgas will regret starting."
The Teamsters represent hundreds of Airgas workers across the country and if the company fails to present a fair contract and rectify its unfair labor practices, a multi-local strike could see picket lines extend nationwide.
Steve Hicks, President of Local 283 expressed his disappointment with Airgas management saying, "The company has refused to offer a contract that respects the skill, dedication, and value our members bring to the job every single day. If a strike happens, the blame lies squarely with Airgas management."
Founded in 1903, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents 1.3 million hardworking people in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico. The union is prepared to support its members in their fight for fair treatment from Airgas.
Colin McCullough, a spokesperson for the Teamsters, can be contacted for further information at (856) 625-6856. For more information on the Teamsters, visit their website at Teamster.org or follow them on social media @Teamsters and Facebook.com/teamsters.
