Per the request of the Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA), the city of Sterling Heights is urging its residents to limit their outdoor water use until further notice.
As GLWA continues to work on the repairs to the 120-inch water main break on the regional water system that caused last Saturday's Boil Water Advisory, limited outdoor water use can help reduce the load on the regional water system and help other surrounding communities possibly lift their Boil Water Advisory sooner.
"We were fortunate to be one of the first communities to have the Boil Water Advisory lifted in Sterling Heights," said Community Relations Director Melanie Davis. "But water system repairs continue, and we're asking our residents to be good neighbors and support GLWA's efforts to get the regional water transmission system back to 100 percent as quickly as possible. If surrounding communities don't comply, we could risk significant repair delays and even end up on another Boil Water Advisory for Sterling Heights."
